Wartime German Third Reich Army Officers Sword.
Third Reich Army Officers sword, condition is \"used\" it has suffered from poor storage conditions over the years, the brass hilt is in good condition, the blade which is maker marked has lost some of its finish and has some pitting and rust but would possibly clean, the scabbard retains most of its black paint finish but has suffered from rust. Overall a good original sword in uncleaned been there condition. Sale to over 18s only.
Large Group Of Letter Home Front 1940-41 - Air Rai
Group of over 60 letters mainly 1940 - 41 from mother to her son a medic in the RAF. The mother lived in London and many of the letters mention air raids bomb damage etc. An interesting picture of the blitz from a civilian point of view. The letters are clearly written.
John woods Prisoners Of War Cigarettes Box.
John Woods Cigarette box (no contents) for H.M Forces and Prisoners of War. Label on the inside of the small card box reads - John Wood & Son Ltd will be pleased to forward these cigarettes duty free as follows - 200 for 6/6 post free to British POW etc. The box is in good used condition.
RAF Pilots Log Book Grouping 1943 - 1963. Gliders,
RAF Pilots log book grouping to 1523715 Warrant Officer K. Temple. The group includes - RAF Pilots Flying Log Book 1943 - 1963. Ministry of Aviation log book - 1966 - 1971 Department of Trade and Industry Civil Aviation Division log book - 1971 - 1981. RAF Service and release book. His Commercial Pilots Licence. Approx 45 photographs taken during war, mainly while training. Approx 25 photographs postwar Meteor and Vampire. Large group of letters and documents RAF service, war and postwar. Log book covering the period 1943 - 1963 flying training begins with No17 EFTS RCAF Nova Scotia basic pilot training on Moth aircraft, December 1943 saw a move to No 9 SFTS on Anson aircraft gaining his pilot wings in April 1944. Returning to the UK in July 1944 to continue training firstly with No5 GTS Shobden with glider pilot training on Hotspur moving to Brize Norton to continue on Horsa Gliders. December 1944 conversion course to the Hadrian Glider. Joining his first Squadron 668 in India in readiness for airborne assaults in South East Asia but were never used due to the Japanese surrender. Between December 1945 and July 1946 he flew Dakotas with 62 & 267 squadron in India on transport duty. 1953 saw his RAF flying career re commence joining 608 Squadron at RAF Thornaby on Tees flying Meteor and Vampire jets this continued until 1957 hundreds are flights are recorded in the log, on 13th November 1955 while landing Vampire he suffered brake failure and crashed in a field at the end of the runway included are two excellent AM photographs of the crashed aircraft. The log is clearly written and has all correct stamps and signatures, his RAF flying career is contained in one log and has rebound in the 1960s with a replacement RAF cover. The other two civilian logs record his career as a civilian commercial pilot. A interesting large group in need of further research all items are in good used condition.
R.A.F 2nd Pattern E Type Flying Helmet.
Wartime R.A.F E-Type Airtex internally wired flying helmet. The helmet is complete with receivers and wiring loom the helmet is in well used condition, there is some fraying to the material mainly on the edges, the airtex has some service wear staining, the leather goggle fixings are good, the elastic chin strap is worn but sound, the original wiring loom is complete with some loss of its fabric covering. Overall a original \"been there\" helmet which still displays well.
