Scarce pocket size fold out card produced by the War Office April 1942 entitled - Precautions To Be Taken By British Personnel In The Event Of Capture 1942 - This Document Must Not Fall Into Enemy Hands. Contents include - Information given on capture, What the enemy will try to find out, Sources and methods which may be employed by the enemy to derive information, Rights of Prisoners etc. Card is in good sound condition with slight decolourisation.

Fleet Air Arm - Pilots Log books x 4 - 1941 - 1958

Four Fleet Air Arm pilots flying log books to Lt / RN J.O Rowbottom covering the period November 1941 to June 1958, hundreds of flights are recorded in the 4 logs, took part in operation / attacks while with 808 squadron flying Hellcats he flew numerous types of aircrafts notable - Skua, Hurricane, Seafire, Hellcat, Vampire plus many other types. Operated from a number of aircraft carriers and post war served as an instructor with the Central flying School. The logs are in good used condition with some wear as you would expect with the amount on entries recorded, 3 logs are RAF type the final one is the Royal Navy type, the group comes with a 14 x 20 cm portrait photograph of Rowbottom in uniform. Logbook 1 covers the period 1941 to February 1944. during this time of basic training and wings qualification in Canada, units served No 14 EFTS, No31 SFTS, No9 AFU, No 776 Squadron Target Towing for gunnery training and No19 AFU main aircraft types flown Tiger Moth, Harvard, Hurricane and Skua. Logbook 2 covers the period 1944 to 1950. A number of fighter school and trining took place on Spitfire, Blenheim, Seafire and Hurricane before joining 808 Squadron flying Hellcat, 808 Squadron was assigned to the British Eastern Fleet in January 1945, embarked aboard the escort carrier HMS Khedive. While part of the Eastern Fleet, the squadron operated off Malaya and Sumatra, with periods spent flying off HMS Emperor. They covered the re-occupation of Rangoon in Operation Dracula in May, carried out attacks against Japanese airfields in Sumatra in June. During this period with 808 squadron he took part in many attacks / operation this period requires further research. Post war served with 727, 799 squadron and the central flying school at Little Rissington as an instructor. Logbook 3 covers the period 1950 to 1954 served with a number of squadron converting to jet aircraft Vampire and Sea Hawk. Logbook 4 covers the period 1954 to 1958 records his final flights in his long career, the last flight on June 26th 1958 while being based at RNAS Yeovilton.

RAF Boxed MkVIII Goggles.

Boxed Mk.VIII Goggles with original box, goggles are in excellent unissued condition with Air Ministry stamp to leather nose bridge and stores ref 22C/930. Lenses have slight delamination due to age, leather is supple, the later style strap retains it elasticity. The box is sound with slight damage and staining, the spare lenses and anti dim tin are missing.
