R.A.F Pilots Log Book - 356 Squadron. 36 Ops.
Wartime R.A.F pilots log book to W/O F.J Wright covering the period 1943 to 1946. This log is his 2nd book which covers his squadron operational career, his training log which would cover the period 1942 - 1943 training in Canada and the USA is missing. Number 2 log commences with continued training at 15 OTU on Wellington at RAF Harwell, February 1944 saw him move to No 1584 HCU converting to Liberators. First operation took place on the 8th March 1944 flying as 2nd pilot on Liberator BZ837 for attack on road between Mogaung and Kamaung. Joined 356 Squadron in April 1944 based at R.A.F Salbani, India, where between August 1944 to May 1945 he completed 36 operations in the Burma theatre mainly on a variety of targets, Marshalling yards, bridges, dumps and shipping. Transferred to RAF Transport Command 232 Squadron, RAF Palam from June 45 to April 1946. The log is in sound used condition clearly written with good operation details and has all correct signatures. At some time in the past a younger member of Wright family has made a few small \"additional\" entries which have been tipp-Ex out. These few in no way affected the original entries and do not detract form an above average log, a good research project. Included 7 original photographs and a number of press cutting collected by Wright.
