R.A.F Ferry Command Flying Log Book Grouping.
R.A.F Flying Log Book document grouping to 197227 F/O Alan Taylor Wireless Operator. The group includes - R.A.F Flying Log Book covering the period May 1943 to June 1946. 2 x R.A.F Ferry Command Radio Officers Log. 1943 - 1944 National service Grade Card 1941. R.A.F Flying Clothing Issue Card. Detailed letter to his parents about repatriation of POWs and wounded dated May 1945 written on 271 squadron headed paper RAF Down Ampney. 18 x Photographs. His 1980s passport. Memorial booklet from his funeral 6thFebruary 2002. Log Book. Training commenced 4th May 1943 with Air operating Section No4 Radio School, moving to No 8. AGS Raf Evanton before going to Canada to complete training. While in Canada he joined No45 (Atlantic Transport) Group RAF Dorval - Canada whos main role was of aircraft delivery to uk. On return to uk served at No1 PTS Ringway for a month moving then to 107 OTU RAF Leicester on supply dropping training flying Dakota. Early 1945 took part in paratroop and supply drops taking part in Operation "Manna" . Joined 271 Squadron in April 1945 numerous flights are recorded to Germany taking supplies and picking up casualties with the end of the war flights turn to bringing home pows and causalities. He continued with 271 Squadron to his last recorded flight 15th June 1945 listing numerous flights. The log is in sound well used condition with some wear damage to the spine, is clearly written with all correct stamps and signatures. A interesting group in need of further research.

\"Britain Under Fire\" published 1940 by Country Life Ltd. Hard back book with dust jacket (jacket has some damage) approx 96 pages illustrated throughout with black and white photographs. Book is in good clean sound condition. Nearly 200 photographs of damage to British cities and towns by German bombers.
Cased Sterling Silver R.A.F Sweetheart Wings.
A lovely quality sterling silver R.A.F sweetheart wings in its original case. The wings are in excellent used condition with safety chain and marked sterling silver to reverse. The case is in good condition with label to inside of lid - You have in this article of good jewellery, British made, may it long give you pleasure in wear.
R.A.F Mk VIII Flying Goggles.
R.A.F Mk VIII Flying Goggles, a good used pair in been there condition, metal frames are good and retain most of the original finish, lenses are good and clear, the leather is sound clean and supple, the reverse is sound but a little grubby from use, the strap has been shortened but retain some elasticity. Overall a good used pair of Mk VIII which display well..
R.A.F Pilots Log Book Grouping to F/O H.W Thornbur
A excellent log book grouping to Flying Officer Henry W Thorburn who served with the following squadrons - 108, 101, 214, 115 and on operation from RAF Marham and the Middle East, a total of 51 ops 26 from UK and 25 from Middle East Bases. The grouping includes - 4 x RAF Pilots log books covering the period 1938 to 1945. Service and release book. Middle East British Forces Identification Card with photo. 16 x photographs. Log Book No 1 cover the period 1938 to February 1941. Covers his training in UK and Canada, before joining 115 Bomber Squadron in February 1940 based at RAF Marham on Wellingtons. 1st op on April 9th Bombing German Fleet in Bergen.a further 25 ops are recorded. This log his is personal copy the original being lost in Greece is identical completed at the time but lack O/C signatures. Log 2. covers the period March 1941 to February 1944. beginning with his move to the middle east with 37 Squadron again flying Wellingtons records 26 well detailed bombing operations. Followed by a short stay with Communication Flight Palestine flying Gloster Gauntlet before returning to the UK serving at the Burtonwood Repair Depot. The rest of the log records service with various M.U flying a number of aircraft types includes Hurricane, Defiant, Hampden, Whitley and Stirling. Log No 3. Covers the period Feb 1944 to Mat 1945. numerous flights recorded in various aircraft types while attached to M.U. Log No 4. Covers the period May 1945 to September 1945 Log carries on from No3 with numerous flights whilst serving with 44 MU. The 4 logs logs record over 1900 hours of flying on 48 aircraft types. All the logs are in good used condition and clearly written. An excellent group in need of further research.
R.A.F Officers Service Dress Cap.
Wartime R.A.F Officers Service Dress Cap in sound but very well used condition but still retains a good shape. The thick padded material is in a fairly dirty grubby condition the inner lining is also grubby but again sound and complete. The good quality badge and band are in good condition. The leather band is complete on button is missing and the band is sewn to the cap this is an old repair. Although this cap has seen a lot of use it displays really well and what consider I is an excellent been there shape.
