Medal Group to Wing Commander L. Robinson R.A.F

Medal group to Wing Commander (298674) Lowther Robinson Royal Air Force. Group includes The Burma Star, Defence Medal, 39-45 War Medal with Mentioned in Despatches Oak Leaf, 1953 Coronation Medal, George V Long Service & Good Conduct Medal named F/Sgt L. Robinson R.A.F, his dog tags and a number of business cards. The medal are in good condition, mounted as worn, and LSGC is clearly named. Robinson was born in Cockermouth 1901, joined R.A.F 1920s. Known stations served at H.M.S Eagle (aircraft carrier) 1926, RAF Leuchars 1930s, RAF Weeton 1950s. Promotions - June 1940 Warrant Officer to Flying Officer. July 1942 Flight Lieutenant, July 1943 Squadron Leader, M.I.D June 1945, Wing Commander July 1951, Retired from RAF October 1953. Service appears to be General Duties and Technical Branch. He died December 1962. Comes with photocopies of Gazette entries. Also for sale separately are his service cap and service tunic see items 50323 & 50322.

World War One Royal Flying Corps propeller trench art trinket box, constructed from section of aircraft propeller with printed RFC wings crest to lid. A quality item in very good condition for its age retaining good French polish finish. The RFC crest to lid is slightly faded due to polishing over the years (see photos)

Bomb Reconnaissance Armband, This original wartime armlet has printed black lettering on yellow cotton backing, condition is good and clean with some slight staining. Armband would have been issued to Civil Defence personnel who had passed the bomb reconnaissance training course.

Private purchase tin container for the civilian gas mask, measures approx 19x13x12 cm manufactured by Barringer, Wallis & Manners Ltd. Mansfield. The tin is in good used condition retains most of its original finish is missing its canvas carrying strap.
