It was instituted on 2 August 1939 and was given to those who designed and built the fortifications on Germany\'s western borders between 15 June 1938 to 31 March 1939.

German World War One parade mounted medal group consisting of - 2nd Class Iron Cross, General Honour Decoration of Hesse Fur Taplerkeit (For Bravery) and 1914/18 Cross of Honor with Swords. The group is nicely mounted, all medals are in very good condition with just some wear to the medal ribbons.

Wop/AG RAF Log Book No 500 Squadron - U-Boat Sunk.

Royal Air Force Observers and Air Gunners Flying Log Book to Sgt Wood covering the period February 1941 to September 1943 who served with No 500 Squadron flying as wireless operator / air gunner on Hudsons in North Africa and the Mediterranean on mainly anti - submarine operations. November 1942 saw a confirmed U-boat sunk, newspaper cutting glued into his log reads - The other was sunk by Pilot Officer Harold Poole (pilot of Sgt Wood aircraft) a New Zealander whose depth charges smashed the stern of a surfacing sub. Included with the log is a message from Allied Force Headquarters congratulating No 500 Squadron on the destruction of Three U-boats. Sgt Wood commenced flying training on the 5th May 1941 with No 10 B+G.S RAF Dumfries on Whitley, moving to No 6 OTU RAF Andover and Thornaby. 16/1/42 - Hudson - A.S.R Chased by JU88 (Shot Up). 15/3/42 - Hudson - Met 14 Fighters didn\'t stop to argue! - 38 sorties completed before joining No 500 and moving abroad. The log is clearly written and has all the correct signature and stamps, he completed 85 sorties and the log records 716 hours of flying. A scarce early log with a confirmed U - Boat kill making an excellent research project.

Postcard size photograph and message from the Christmas 1914 Princess Marys Gift Tin given to all servicemen in uniform after a public appeal to raise funds. The photograph is one of the harder to find item from the gift tin. The card is in good used condition.
